How it works

Up and chatting in a minute.

Behind each message is a signed request your wallet approves. The app handles the rest.

  1. Step 1

    Connect your wallet

Any wallet, or sign in with email to get one. Your address is your account: no names, no sign-up form.

  2. Step 2

    Activate your address

Sign once to set up your private inbox and record your address so others can reach you. It costs no gas.

  3. Step 3

    Say hello

Start a chat or a group and send your first message. A relayer submits it, so you pay no gas.

Under the hood

Three contracts run the whole app.

There is no Whispr server holding your messages. The app reads and writes these contracts on Base, and you can inspect each one yourself.

  • Whispr

Profiles, conversations, messages, media and payments.

  • Forwarder

Checks your wallet's signature, then sends the call as you.

  • Paymaster

Covers the gas for relayed messages.

A privacy-first messaging app where your wallet is your account. Chat one-to-one or in groups, share photos, video, audio and documents that only the people in the conversation can open, message several people at once, and send a payment in the thread when you need to. Everything runs on smart contracts on Base.

Yes. Batch send lets you write one message to up to ten recipients and send it with a single signature.

No. You sign each message in your wallet, the app's relayer submits it, and the Paymaster covers the gas. Whoever runs the app needs to keep the relayer and Paymaster funded.

Only you and the people in the conversation. Messages, photos and files stay private to the chat. Payments are private too: anyone can see that money moved, but not who received it. What's on the public network is who messaged whom, and when.

Yes. Hover a message and delete it, and it disappears from the chat. A record that a message was sent always stays in Base's history, but what it said stays private.
