Identity and storage
Your address, your public key, and how storage is counted.
Identity#
Whispr has no usernames or profiles. Your wallet address is your identity: people find you by your address or the chat link under Open wallet, Receive. Activating stores your address and a public key in the contract, and nothing else.
Public key#
Your public key is what keeps messages to you private. Your wallet sets it up with a free signature, the same wallet gets the same key on every device, and the private half never leaves your browser. Older accounts are upgraded automatically the next time they open the app.
Storage and activity#
- Each user has 1 GB of media storage, counted from the sizes of the files you send.
- The left panel shows your message count and storage used.
- Each account can send up to 10,000 messages.
