Quickstart

From zero to your first message in a few minutes.

What you need#

  • Any wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, WalletConnect on mobile), or an email or Google account: signing in with one creates a wallet for you.
  • The Base network (chain ID 84532) in your wallet.
  • The wallet address of someone who has also registered, to chat with.

Send your first message#

    Open the app

    Go to the app and press Log in or connect wallet in the left panel.

    Activate your address

    The first time you connect, sign to set up your private inbox and record your address on-chain. There is nothing to fill in, and it costs no gas.

    Start a conversation

    Press New conversation and paste the other person's wallet address.
  4. 4

    Say hello

    Type a message and press Send, then approve the signature request in your wallet.

If something goes wrong#

MessageWhat it means
Recipient not registeredThe address you messaged hasn't activated Whispr yet. Send them your chat link so they can open the app and sign in.
Relayer not configuredThe app's relayer key isn't set, so it can't submit your message. See Run locally.
Request cancelledYou rejected the signature in your wallet. Nothing was sent.
